This post is the outcome of my first time ever paid attention in one of the theory classes I have this semester. Actually the topic, the teacher & his way of teaching was worth paying attention to……topic was creativity
CREATIVITY – it is voluntary relaxing of ego-controls…………mmm forget it….even I hav no idea wat it means…
From the day we jump out of our mother’s womb the conditioning of our mind starts & continues as we grow, we are taught by our elders certain ways or paradigm to do things & we start learning…….Later we step into skool and our mind is conditioned (technically ;) ) more by the teachers based on their own experiences, textbooks & few more mind conditioning talks …same process continues in college....(and thus a robot is made ;) )
But this ruins our creativity coz we don’t think in any other direction, we don’t think innovatively, we think based on whatever we have learnt in school or studied elsewhere…..textbooks becomes “truthbooks” for us.
This leads to one very interesting fact that why most of the great scientists, innovators & people who did something different were school or college drop-outs(I’m not promoting dropping out of ur school or college though , its just some random thought which came to my mind ;) ………as they were dropped out of the normal course of study, their mind was’nt conditioned as a normal student’s mind would be, their minds were fresh, were ready to think in any possible direction, let me quote some examples of these “dropped out heroes”
Ansel Adams, world-famous photographer, dropped out of high school.
Benjamin Franklin, inventor, scientist, author, entrepreneur, no schooling :)
Colonel Harlan Sanders, founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), dropped out of elementary school
Dustin Moskovitz, multi-millionaire co-founder of Facebook, Harvard dropout
David Geffen, billionaire founder of Geffen Records and co-founder of DreamWorks, dropped out of college after completing one year
Henry Ford, billionaire founder of Ford Motor Company, did not attend college :)
Ray Kroc, founder of McDonald’s, Dropped out of high school
Shawn Fanning, developer of Napster, dropped out of college at the age of 19
Simon Cowell, TV producer, music judge, American Idol, The X Factor, and Britain’s Got Talent, high school dropout
Thomas Edison, inventor of the lightbulb, phonograph, and more, primarily home-schooled, then joined the railroad when he was only 12
Walt Disney, founder of the Walt Disney Company, dropped out of high school at 16
George Eastman, multimillionaire inventor, Kodak founder, dropped out of high school
Frederick Henry Royce, auto designer, multimillionaire co-founder of Rolls-Royce, dropped out of elementary school
Larry Ellison, billionaire co-founder of Oracle software company, dropped out of two different colleges
Raghuram, Director of a reality show Roadies on MTV, dropped out of Delhi University in III year
And the list goes on…coz there are many more such real life heroes who used their regular mind to think irregularly….!
So don’t let your creativity die…..just erase boundaries of your mind, trust your instincts and make waves…. And think “zara hatke” ;)
